My Teeth!!

Hey all. I had my dental procedure yesterday. They extracted 7 of my top teeth and inserted my new dentures. WOW!! My first words after having them in and looking in the mirror were, " Dang, I have a lot of fricking teeth in my mouth!" HAHA. It was just a shock after not having many the last couple of years. They did a fantastic job making them look like my original teeth and that makes me happy. :) I am still in a bit of pain but that is to be expected. Ingvarr is also still in pain but is able to hobble around mostly unassisted now. I feel so bad for him because I know it must hurt like hell most of the time.

Tomorrow, Kendra has a half day at school due to parent/teacher conferences. UGH, I hate these! Last time I had to get on to her teacher for talking rude, forceful and crappy to Kendra. (I made Kendra leave before I did it though) (no witnesses, heh!) She still complains about this teacher so we will just have to see how things go.

Also, tomorrow we will be meeting with Baron Ivan and Baroness Ianuk (sp?) and then purchasing all the needed materials for the blue and gold tabards for Estrella. Yeah!!!

Oh, one last thing. I was at the Salvation Army Thrift Store on Golf Links today and got a MAJOR SWEET deal on a sewing machine. There it sat with no price anywhere. I went to the cashier and asked if she knew how much it was and if it even worked. She walked over to it, looked at it, told me she didn't know anything about it then said, "I don't know, $5 or $10". Well, all I had was a $5 so I told her, handed it to her and she went and range me up. HOLY COW!! It is very heavy and came with a case, attachments and foot pedal. The brand is "Nelco". I plugged it in and it ran just fine and wasn't very loud either. I haven't tried to sew with it yet though.

That's it for now,
Isbera

A long time..

Hello there.

It's been a long time since I was on here. I am just wanting to do a little ranting, raving and jabbering. As some of you know my hubby, Ingvarr, has recently had knee surgery.. two days ago. He is doing fine and the wounds are looking VERY nice. One stitch has ripped out but it still looks ok. It was orthoscopic so he has 3 holes from the instruments and then also has a 2 inch slice just under his knee where they went in to grab the hamstring (it replaced the obliterated ACL). He is mostly just hanging out in bed reading with his leg propped up. I got him to get up earlier and he lounged on the couch while we watched a movie. (Clerks II)

I am having a small procedure on Jan. 30th. Yes, this Tuesday and I am somewhat worried about it. I am having all 7 of my top teeth pulled and my new upper dentures inserted.. all on the same day. Needless to say, I will NOT be at fighter practice that evening. I have had teeth extracted before and man, it sucks. I always feel it, not bad enough to hurt but the tugging and the sounds are horrible. I am VERY excited about how my smile will look once I am all healed up. The first few weeks will be bad but it should be smooth sailing from then on.

P.S. I recieved my very first cavity at age 19. I am now 32 getting dentures. I have been "blessed" with horrible teeth. Moral of this story, BRUSH AND FLOSS and hope for the best.

Other than our overhauls we are very much looking foreward to Estrella. It is our first so we are virgins. ;) It's gonna be a blast!!

I'm back

Hello all. I know know if anyone knew I was gone but I was. I have been down in South Texas taking care of my terminally ill Grandpa. I left out on the Amtrak on Sept. 21 or around there and was gone for almost a month. He passed on Friday 13th and I was home by the 18th. Dang, I sure missed my hubby! I have been home for almost 2 weeks but it doesn't feel like it at all. I guess I have been here in "body" but not really in "mind". Oh well, I am slowly getting back to normal.

Now then, today we drove to Winkelman, Az and did our part in site clean-up for Southern. What a beautiful place!! I could just sit by the river for hours and daydream while I fish. heh heh! Anyway, I am excited about Southern as it will be our first big event and we really don't know what to look forward to except a great time. :) I will be picking up our tent tomorrow (thanks to a very generous donor) and we picked up some awesome sleeping bags on our way home today. I know flashlights and lanterns are not "period" but we have them and will use them because I will not walk around with a torch. HA HA! (yes, a crummy joke.)

I can't decide if I want to bring my dog or not. I would love to but I believe I read somewhere that they (dogs) would have to stay out of public places??? That sounds to me like she would have to stay in the tent all the time. I most likely read that wrong so if anyone knows please let me know.

Well, that's about it for now. I hope everyone had a great month! All in all, I had fun being around my CRAZY family again and I was reminded of just how much I love them all.

Finished the Garb!

Yea! I finally finished mine and hubby's garb at about 1:30 this morning. I am not happy with the neck trim on his tunic but it will have to do. My underdress too a LOT more work than planned and the next one I make will be a lot different. I was going to "cheat" my way through but ended up with a lot more sewing and seam ripping than planned. I will not be doing that again. I am thrilled that I am finished!

Garb construction

Well, I stayed up late last night trying to finish my apron dress but alas, I didn't get it done. Hubby's outfit is 95% finished needing only the neckhole done and a little trim added. Mine on the other hand needs top and bottom hem, shoulder straps and all the trim added. I really enjoy taking a bolt of cloth and turning it into something you can actually wear! I don't have the "turtle brooches" so will me making due with what I have and I really hope it is acceptable. I also hope people don't look at us like we are CRAZY this Tuesday at the Knights for Lights Tourney when we arrive dressed up. Eh, I'm just worried.

Hello everyone. I am new here and am also new to the Barony of Tir Ysgithr. My hubby, daughter and I have been to two fighter practices so far and like what we see. We will be attending the tourney this next Tuesday in our new garb and we are really excited about it. My hubby will be trying his hand at fighting in a couple of weeks and he can hardly wait. I on the other hand will be biting my nails and will have trouble watching..ha ha.
